This 60’s era home had an incredibly small bath with little storage.

The bath had a pony wall to separate vanity from toilet, which is a wonderful for a multiple use bathroom. But was not necessary in this single user space, removing the wall reduced the caged in feeling. Increasing light in space and levels of light also moved the eye across and into room.

Cabinets maximized every inch of space. This small space has nine functional drawers and vertical storage on mirrored cabinets.

DESIGN FEATURES

  • Waterfall Ceaserstone edge on countertop to floor, reduced the darkness of cabinets, and kept visual separation to toilet.
  • Backsplash same material as cabinets to not create too many textures
  • Horizontal book matched grain on lower cabinets, to move eye across. Vertical grain on uppers to move eye up.
  • Scooped drawers under sink, which allowed for nine large drawers.
  • Minimal material use to not crowd eye.
  • Inserts in vanity cabinets to organize small items
  • Vertical storage off mirror with lighting
  • Back painted glass shower walls, with built in niche for storage

Make a Cube

We could not increase the actual size of room but had to create a calm clean lined space with more functional storage.

The client fell in love with the Wetstyle Cube tub. So we cleaned up the construction and created a perfect cube for the tub to go in. The old bath was dark, divided into even smaller compartments with a ponywall, had a bulkhead and an uneven back wall.

Materials:

  • Eco board teak – recycled veneer.
  • Marmoleum flooring
  • Ceaserstone quartz
  • Wetstyle tub and vessel vanity
  • Back painted glass shower walls- with paint tone taken from walls
  • Grohe cube fixtures

Construction

  • Bulkhead removed that held old pot light replaced with small flush pot lights
  • Back wall made even so we had one smooth space undeivided
  • no tiles and therefore no grids of grout lines making space appear smaller
  • Marmoleum on floor to create smooth unbroken warm surface
